SOURCES OF PERSONAL INCOME Personal income increased $6.5 billion (annual rate) in August following a rise of $16.0 billion in July. Personal income in August was affected by three special factors—the telephone strike, special payments to Postal Service employees, and hurricane damage. Without these special factors, personal income would have increased by about $14 billion in August.
