Res. 55] To print the monthly publication entitled "Economic Indicators" Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Joint Economic Committee be authorized to issue a monthly publication entitled "Economic Indicators," and that a sufficient quantity be printed to furnish one copy to each Member of Congress; the Secretary and the Sergeant at Arms of the Senate; the Clerk, Sergeant at Arms, and Doorkeeper of the House of Representatives; two copies to the libraries of the Senate and House, and the Congressional Library; seven hundred copies to the Joint Economic Committee; and the required numbers of copies to the Superintendent of Documents for distribution to depository libraries; and that the Superintendent of Documents be authorized to have copies printed for sale to the public. Real output (GNP adjusted for price changes) rose 2.1 percent, annual rate, and the implicit price deflator rose at a 4.6 percent annual rate. Source: Department of Commerce, Bureau of Economic Analysis. SOURCES OF PERSONAL INCOME Personal income rose $8.6 billion (annual rate) in August, following a rise of $26.2 billion in July. About $12.0 billion of the July increase resulted from a cost-of-living adjustment to several transfer programs. Wages and salaries rose $2.6 billion in August compared with a rise of $7.8 billion in July. PRODUCTION AND BUSINESS ACTIVITY INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION AND CAPACITY UTILIZATION Industrial production fell 0.5 percent in August following a 0.1 percent rise in July and a 0.5 percent decline in June. The index for August was 10.2 percent below the year earlier level.
