To print the monthly publication entitled "Economic Indicators"
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Joint
Economic Committee be authorized to issue a monthly publication entitled "Economic Indicators," and that a
sufficient quantity be printed to furnish one copy to each Member of Congress; the Secretary and the Sergeant at
Arms of the Senate; the Clerk. Sergeant at Arms, and Doorkeeper of the House of Representatives; two copies to
the libraries of the Senate and House, and the Congressional Library; seven hundred copies to the Joint Economic
Committee; and the required numbers of copies to the Superintendent of Documents for distribution to depository
libraries; and that the Superintendent of Documents be authorized to have copies printed for sale to the public.

TOTAL OUTPUT, INCOME, AND SPENDING
GROSS NATIONAL PRODUCT
According to revised estimates for the third quarter, gross national product rose $48.6 billion or 9.6 percent, both at
annual rates. Real output (GNP adjusted for price changes) increased 2.6 percent from the second quarter level and
the implicit price deflator rose at a 6.9 percent annual rate.

SOURCES OF PERSONAL INCOME
Personal income rose $17.3 billion (annual rate) in November following revised increases of $22.5 billion in October
and $13.6 billion in September. Wages and salaries rose $11.8 billion in November, compared with $16.5 billion in
October. All other major types of income also rose in November.

GROSS PRIVATE DOMESTIC INVESTMENT
According to revised estimates for the third quarter, business fixed investment rose $7.4 billion (annual rate) as nonresidential construction outlays rose $4.3 billion and producers1 durable equipment purchases increased $3.1 billion.
Residential investment outlays increased $3.7 billion. Inventory investment amounted to $13.6 billion, down 56.5
billion from the second quarter level.

In November the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained at 5.8 percent. Unemployment among whites feh

PRICES

In November, the producer price index for all finished goods rose 0.8 percent, seasonally adjusted. Prices of finished
consumer foods increased 0.6 percent and prices of other finished consumer goods rose 0.7 percent. Prices of capital
equipment increased 1.0 percent.

Prices received by farmers decreased 1y2 percent in November. Contributing most to the decline were lower prices for
hogs, cattle, and citrus fruits. Partially offsetting were higher prices for eggs, lettuce, milk, corn, and wheat. Prices paid
by farmers were unchanged in the month ended November 15.

In the third quarter, the current account deficit widened to $3.8 billion from $3.1 billion in the second quarter. The
merchandise trade deficit rose marginally, from $7.8 billion to $8.0 billion.

U.S. INTERNATIONAL TRANSACTIONS—Continued
After falling by $5.7 billion in ihe second quarter, foreign official assets in the U.S. rose by $4.9 billion in the third
quarter. The accumulation of U.S. private assets abroad accelerated from $5.3 billion in the second quarter to $9.7
billion in the third quarter. This rise was partially offset by an increase in the accumulation of other foreign assets in
the U.S. from $6.1 billion in the second quarter to $9.7 billion in the third quarter.
