Res. 55] To print the monthly publication entitled "Economic Indicators" Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Joint Economic Committee be authorized to issue a monthly publication entitled "Economic Indicators," and that a sufficient quantity be printed to furnish one copy to each Member of Congress; the Secretary and the Sergeant at Arms of the Senate; the Clerk, Sergeant at Arms, and Doorkeeper of the House of Representatives; two copies to the libraries of the Senate and House, and the Congressional Library; seven hundred copies to the Joint Economic Committee; and the required numbers of copies to the Superintendent of Documents for distribution to depository libraries; and that the Superintendent of Documents be authorized to have copies printed for sale to the public. Real output (GNP adjusted for price changes) rose 1.3 percent, annual rate, and the implicit price deflator rose at a 4.9 percent annual rate. SOURCES OF PERSONAL INCOME Personal income rose $25.1 billion (annual rate) in July following a rise of $9.8 billion in June. Wages and salaries rose $7.0 billion in July; they had risen $2.1 billion in June. Transfer payments rose $12.8 billion in July, compared with $2.2 billion in June; a cost-of-living increase in social security benefits accounted for $10.9 billion of the July rise. Prices of finished consumer foods fell 1.5 percent, and prices of other finished consumer goods increased 1.5 percent. Prices of capital equipment rose 0.5 percent from their June level. In the second quarter, the merchandise trade deficit fell further, to $5.1 billion.
