The last E.3.4 publication contained data as of September 30, 1978. The new release (Asset Items, Liabilities and Capital Accounts By Class of Bank, Summary Report of Condition) will be issued with the same frequency (quarterly) and in a similar format. The last E.3.4 publi cationcontained data as of September 30, 1978. The FR 40 release (Asset Items, Liabilities and Capital Accounts by Class of Bank, Summary Report of Condition) contains data very comparable to the E. 3.4. It is also released with the same frequency (quarterly) and in a similar format. As in the case of the E.3.4, the last FR 40 data released were data as of September 30, 1978. While final data have recently been released for later quarters, the large number of Call report changes .have delayed the publication of future FR 40 releases until early March 1981. Data in similar form are available, however, in the October 1980 and December 1980 issues of the Federal Reserve Bulletin. There is one important change regarding the E.3.4 and FR 40 releases* The FR 40 will now assume the symbol of the E.3.4 release and will hereafter be referred to as the E.3.4 statistical release.
