BOARD OF GOVERNORS
of the

FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM
WASHINGTON

T h e MEMBER BANK CALL REPORT is published follow
ing each official call upon member banks of the Federal Reserve
System for statements of their condition. It contains tables
showing assets and liabilities and a classification1 of loans, in
vestments, and deposits for all member banks (national and
State) in the country as a whole, by Federal Reserve districts
and by classes of banks. Tables are also given, by reserve cities
and States, showing assets and liabilities and a classification
of deposits for all member banks.
The figures shown for central reserve city banks are exclu
sive of assets and liabilities of any member banks located in
outlying sections of such cities which have been granted per
mission to carry either the same reserves as are required to be
maintained by reserve city banks or the same reserves as are
required to be carried by country banks. The figures shown
for reserve city banks are exclusive of assets and liabilities of
any member banks located in outlying sections of such cities
which have been granted permission to carry the same reserves
as are required to be carried by country banks.
In the tabulations presented herewith the figures for all
domestic branches are consolidated with those of their head
offices. Consequently, the figures for some reserve cities as
shown in the Call Report include assets and liabilities of many
branches located outside of such cities.
All figures included in this report relating to the condition
of national banks were furnished by the Comptroller of the
Currency. The abstract of condition reports of national banks
issued by the Comptroller gives detailed statistical data regard
ing the condition of national banks.

ivem auu, uaiances w itn panKs m u n ite a btates, except private banks and American branches of foreign banks, plus cash item s in process of
collection. T h e difference betw een the figures shown in this column and the figures shown against the corresponding captions under “ Assets” is
accounted for b y an excess of allowable deductions over gross dem and deposits a t a num ber of banks.
* Reserves actually required are based on deposits a t opening of business. T he figures in this column, therefore, represent the reserves reauired
to be m aintained on the business day following the call date. P u rsu an t to the provisions of law, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve
System has prescribed th e following requirem ents as to reserves to be m aintained b y each mem ber bank: Tim e deposits—5 per cent for all m ember
banks; N et dem and deposits—22% per cent for C entral Reserve city banks. 17H per cent for Reserve city banks and 12 per cent for C ountry banks
* As reported b y m em ber banks. These figures differ from those shown by the Federal Reserve B anks’ books because of a lack of synchro
nization of entries on the books of the Federal Reserve Banks and the m em ber banks.
