WIRE CHARGEBACKS FOR LARGE DOLLAR
ADJUSTMENTS AND RETURN ITEMS

TO ALL FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS IN THE
ELEVENTH FEDERAL RESERVE DISTRICT:
R e fe r e n c e is made to our Circular No. 82-71 dated June 17, 1982
regarding the July 19, 1982 im plem en tation o f a wire c r ed it/c h a r g e procedure
for processing interd istrict return ite m s and cash l e t t e r adjustm ents o f
$50,000 and over. The Federal R ese r v e S ystem will delay im p lem en tation o f
the new procedures for wire advice o f interterritory return ite m s and cash
le t t e r adjustm ents o f $50,000 and over. Im p lem en tation o f th e s e procedures
will be postponed for a minimum o f 60 days. This will provide additional tim e
to consider other a lte r n a tiv e s to adjust operational and funds m anagem ent
procedures. Existing return ite m and adjustm ent procedures will continue to
be used in the interim .
