FEDERAL R ESE R V E BANK OF DALLAS Station K, Dallas, T e x a s 7 5 2 2 2 Circular No. 84-26 February 13, 1984 TO: The depository institutions addressed in the Eleventh Federal Reserve District ATTENTION: Operations Officer SUBJECT: Validity of Bahamian money orders SUMMARY: The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas has been advised by the United States Postal Service that financial institutions in this country are refusing to honor money orders issued in the Bahamas. As stated in Circular No. 80-221, dated November 17, 1980, there is an agreement between the postal service and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas Domestic (USA) whereby Bahamian postal money orders will be accepted for payment by the United States Postal Service. This type of money order is valid, and institutions may deposit such money orders with the FederalReserve just as they deposit U.S. postal money orders.
