TREASURY ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE FOR
REGULAR WEEKLY BILL AUCTIONS DURING HOLIDAY SEASON

To All Banking Institutions and Others Concerned
in the Eleventh Federal Reserve District:

T h ere is quoted below a press statem ent issued by the T reasury D epartm ent today in
regard to w eekly T reasury bill auctions during the holiday season:
T he T reasury announced th a t its next regular weekly bill auction will be held on
Friday, D ecem ber 20, instead of M onday, D ecem ber 23. T h e holiday on Christm as
d ay requires the shift in order to m aintain the norm al num ber of business days between
th e auction and the paym ent date, which rem ains T hursday, D ecem ber 26.
T he sam e p attern will apply the next week, because New Y ear’s day occurs
betw een the auction and paym ent date. T enders will be invited on M onday, D ecem ­
ber 23, instead of W ednesday, D ecem ber 25, and the auction will be on Friday,
D ecem ber 27, instead of M onday, D ecem ber 30. T h e paym ent date will rem ain
T hursday, Jan u a ry 2.
F or the following weekly bill auction, the New Y ear’s day holiday will require
a change in the announcem ent date from W ednesday, Ja n u a ry 1, to Tuesday, D ecem ­
ber 31. T he auction d ate will rem ain M onday, Jan u a ry 6, and the paym ent date will
rem ain T hursday, Jan u a ry 9.

Because of a holiday next week, tenders for this issue of Treasury bills will be
received at this bank and its branches at El Paso, Houston and San Antonio, up to
twelve-thirty o’clock p.m., Friday, December 20, 1963, Central Standard Time.
