RESPONSE
NEW CURRENCY AND COIN ORDERING SERVICE
TO ALL DEPOSITORY INSTITUTIONS IN THE
ELEVENTH FEDERAL RESERVE DISTRICT:
Currency and coin ordering will be available through the Federal
Reserve Bank of Dallas RESPONSE communications network beginning February 1,
1983. For those institutions on-line with the Federal Reserve's computer through
RESPONSE, this new application will replace the need for initiating such orders
over the telephone. User guides and diskettes for the new currency and coin
ordering service are being distributed to all on-line institutions.
The RESPONSE network provides fast and efficient access to certain
Federal Reserve services and is available through any of three options. These
include a direct computer-to-computer link with the Federal Reserve, a connection
through terminal linked by dedicated communications lines, and a linkage achieved
through an IBM Personal Computer using dial-up telephone procedures for access.
RESPONSE is currently used for sending and receiving funds transfers, receiving
reserve account statem ent information, transferring securities, and receiving
ceiling rate information for money market CDs, in addition to the new currency
and coin ordering application.
