REGULATION BB—THE COMMUNITY REINVESTMENT ACT
Frequently Asked Questions About the Community Reinvestment Act
and Regulation BB

TO STATE MEMBER BANKS IN THE
ELEVENTH FEDERAL RESERVE DISTRICT:
The four Federal supervisors of financial institutions responsible
under the law for enforcing the Community Reinvestment Act have issued a
second set of staff-prepared answers to questions frequently asked about the
Act, the implementing Regulation BB, and examination procedures. The
firs t set of questions numbered 1 through 15 was transmitted to your bank
with C ircular No. 79-22 of February 1, 1979.
These questions and answers are staff prepared and should not
be taken as official interpretations of the Act itself. The purpose of trans
mitting them is to provide useful background information to your institution
and the public.
A copy of the second set of questions and answers numbered 16
through 25 is printed on the following pages. Additional questions should
be directed to our Consumer A ffairs Section, E xt. 6171.
Sincerely yours,
Robert H . Boykin
F irst Vice President
