ELEVENTH FEDERAL RESERVE DISTRICT:
It is a p l e a s u r e to a n n o u n c e th a t the B oard of D ire c to rs of th e
F e de ra l R e s e r v e Bank of Dallas has promoted J o s e p h E. B u r n s , who is p r e s ­
en tly Vice P r e s i d e n t of th is B an k , to Senior Vice P r e s id e n t. Mr. B u rn s will
ha v e s e n io r s u p e r v i s i o n of th e Bank a n d Public Information, Pu b lica tio n s,
R e s e a r c h , a n d Statistical D e p a rtm e n ts.
A na tiv e of M edford, O r e g o n , Mr. B u r n s holds B . S . , M . A . , a n d
P h .D . d e g r e e s in econom ics from th e U n iv e r s ity of O re g o n . From J u l y 1967
to F e b r u a r y 1970 he s e r v e d a s an econom ist a t th e Board of G o v e r n o r s of the
F e d e ra l R e s e r v e Syste m in W ashington, D . C . In March 1970 he came to the
Fe de ra l R e s e r v e Bank of Dallas as S e n io r Financial Economist. In J a n u a r y
1972 he moved to th e F i r s t National Bank in Dallas a s A s s is ta n t Vice P r e s id e n t
and A ssociate Economist. With th e formation of F i r s t International B a n c s h a r e s ,
I n c . , th e p a r e n t h o ld in g company of F i r s t National B an k , he became Staff
Economist for the h o ld in g c om pa ny. In A u g u s t of 1973 Mr. B u rn s r e t u r n e d
to th e F e d e ra l R e s e r v e Bank of Dallas a n d a ss u m e d the position of D irector
of R e s e a r c h a n d on J a n u a r y 1, 1975 was e lected Vice P r e s id e n t.
