H O U ST O N BR AN C H FED ER A L RESERVE BANK O F DALLAS H O U S T O N . TEXAS Houston, Texas, June 21,1965 To All Member and P ar Nonmember Banks in the Houston Branch Territory: The latter p art of this month the Houston Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas will begin processing checks for all banks in its territory on a high-speed check-handling system. Checks processed on this equipment will be batched in groups of 300 items or less, with a tape for each batch. However, only one total of all machined work will appear on the cash letter form. No other change will be made a t this time in the manner th a t checks are forwarded to the drawee banks except for the appearance of the proof tapes. It will be very helpful if you will fully explain all adjustments to the total of our letter on the reverse side of the cash letter form (TR-1) which accompanies your remittance for our cash letter. Also, please return the tapes with position of errors marked and, if possible, a photocopy of any improperly listed item. This will be very beneficial in our investigation of the differences. Your cooperation and assistance in this new procedure will be sincerely appreciated. Yours very truly, J. L. Cook Vice President-in-Charge This publication was digitized and made available by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas' Historical Library (FedHistory@dal.frb.org)
