SALVAGGIO F IR S T V IC E P R E S ID E N T August 31, 1992 DALLAS, TEXAS 75222 Notice 92-84 TO: The Chief Operating Officer of each financial institution in the Eleventh Federal Reserve District SUBJECT Implementation of C heck Truncation Service Enhancements DETAILS Beginning Thursday, October 1, 1992, the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallaswill implement new check truncation service enhancements in the El Paso Office. The service enhancements include microfilming and developing checks using c u s t o mer-supplied microfilm, providing m icrofiche containing check information by account in check number order, and safekeeping the checks for 90 days. Initially, the physical checks will be presented to the customer and then returned to the Fed to perform the service enhancements. Within the first ye a r using this service, customers will be expected to convert to the fulltruncation service, with no physical delivery of the checks. This improvement to our check truncation service will provide enhanced service for financial institutions currently involved with or planning to implement check truncation services for their customers. The service enhancements will be extended to all Eleventh District offices in 1993.
