Functional Cost Analysis Program
DETAILS
This year will be the t w e n t y - f i r s t year the Functional Cost Analysis
Program has been offe re d in the Eleventh Federal Reserve D i s t r i c t . The program is
again a v a i l a b l e to a l l f i n a n c i a l i n s t i t u t i o n s in the D i s t r i c t on a voluntary
non-cost b a s i s .
The Functional Cost Analysis Program i s designed so t h a t a l l f i n a n c i a l
i n s t i t u t i o n s can p a r t i c i p a t e re g ar d l es s of s iz e and s t a f f l i m i t a t i o n s . The program
enables p a r t i c i p a n t s to measure employee e f f i c i e n c y as well as compile and analyze
banking a c t i v i t i e s , such as r ece iv in g d e p o s i ts , lending and fee-based s e r v i c e s .
For i n s t i t u t i o n s t h a t p a r t i c i p a t e , the FCA r e p o r t provides a number of item
costs such as the co st to process a t r a n s i t check, a checking depos it and a savings
withdrawal as well as to make an i n s t a l l m e n t loan and to c o l l e c t a payment. An
important f e a t u r e of the r e p o r t is comparative cos t f ig u re s f o r f i n a n c i a l
i n s t i t u t i o n s most s i m i l a r to the p a r t i c i p a t i n g i n s t i t u t i o n . The enclosed brochure
provides a d d it io na l information concerning the program.
