DETAILS
The Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Department of the
Treasury ("OFAC") has requested the assistance of the Federal Reserve System
in informing all member banks of the prohibition under the Comprehensive
Anti-Apartheid Act of 1986. That Act prohibits holding deposit bank accounts
of the South African Government ("SAG") or agencies owned or controlled by the
SAG. The OFAC also requested the dissemination to the banks a listing of SAG
owned or controlled agencies.
However, the list of agencies or entities owned or controlled by the
SAG provided to us by the OFAC, and attached to Circular 87-32 dated May 1,
1987, was incomplete. Therefore, the OFAC has forwarded a revised list of SAG
agencies, which is enclosed for your information.
ATTACHMENTS
The revised Department of State listing of agencies or entities owned
or controlled by the Government of South Africa is enclosed.
