FE D E R AL R E SE R V E B A N K O F D A L L A S F IS C A L A G E N T O F T H E U N IT E D STATES Dallas, Texas, September 29, 1943 ENDORSEMENT OF CHECKS BY DEPOSITARIES To the War Loan Depositary Bank Addressed: In our circular letter of September 17, 1943, we advised you that for the duration of the Third War Loan drive the Treasury Department had authorized War Loan depositaries which receive checks in payment of sub scriptions, payable to the order of the Treasurer of the United States, or payable in substantially similar forms, such as the Secretary of the Treas ury, United States Treasury, or Treasury Department, to endorse such checks in the following manner Loan account on its books: if the proceeds are credited to the War “ For credit to War Loan Deposit Account, Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, Fiscal Agent of the United States, in payment of United States Government securities.” The authority for such endorsement on checks has now been extended beyond the duration of the Third War Loan drive and will remain in effect until further notice. Checks payable to the order of this bank or one of its branches at El Paso, Houston, or San Antonio, may be accepted by depositaries for the same purpose and endorsed in a like manner until further notice. In those instances where depositaries do not enter credits through the War Loan Account, the checks may be attached to the proper application or subscription forms and forwarded to this bank or appropriate branch for handling.
