EMERGENCY HOUSING ACT OF 1975

TO THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER,
EACH STATE MEMBER BANK IN THE
ELEVENTH FEDERAL RESERVE DISTRICT:
On A u g u s t 13, 1975, we fo r w a r d e d to you C i r c u l a r No. 75-117
calling y o u r attention to Public Law 94-50 known a s the " E m ergen cy
Housing Act of 1975.1 T h e letter noted the s ta tu to ry r e q u i r e m e n t for

notification of th e Federal s u p e r v i s o r y a g e n c i e s , the S e c r e t a r y of Housing
a n d U rb a n Development, a n d the m ortgag o r of an intent to foreclose at
least 30 d a y s p r i o r to the institution of fo r e c lo s u re action a nd indicated
th a t additional in s tru c tio n s with r e s p e c t to such notification would be
fo r th c o m in g .
At that time, it was the intention of the v a r io u s a g e n c ie s to
dev elop a common r e p o r ti n g format in o r d e r to av oid duplication of effort.
We have since le a rn ed that th e a g e n c ie s intend to leave th e content a n d
format of the r e p o r t to the di s c re tio n of th e b a n k . It wi II be sufficient,
t h e r e f o r e , if you s u p p l y Thom as R. S u lliv a n , Vice P r e s id e n t in c h a r g e
of Examinations at this Bank, with a co p y of a n y f o r e c lo s u re letter sent
to the m o rtg a g o r and to the S e c r e t a r y of Housing a n d U rb an Development
p u r s u a n t to the a b o v e - s ta te d r e q u i r e m e n t .
