GENERAL FEDERAL OF RESERVE BANK CIRCULAR DALLAS September 15, 1921. TO THE BANK ADDRESSED: There is given below a description of persons who have been passing checks stolen from the office of the Disbursing Officer for Department of Justice at Leavenworth Prison, about which you were advised in our Gen eral Circular dated September 13: “ Number 1. Age forty-eight; height 5 feet 11; weight 160 pounds, slender build; medium light hair, small eyes, smooth shaven, drawn appearance, prominent cheek bones. Slightly stooped. Looks like farmer. Dark clothes, soft black hat, fast talker.” “ Number 2. Age forty, height 5 feet 8 or 9 inches, weight 165 or 170 pounds, olive complexion, light brown hair, smooth shaven, slightly prominent cheek bones, small blue or grey eyes, medium build, walks erect, looks like ex-soldier, glib talker, low voice, smiles when talking, dark blue suit, black bow tie, soft hat or cap.” “ Number 2 presents check and letter in manila envelope writ ten on U. S. Prison paper addressed to George E. Bates, advising check was being forwarded. Wears a badge inscribed Geo. E. Bates or G. E. B. Guard or Warden U. S. Prison, Leavenworth, Kansas. States he has been doing detective work and in record room in the prison.” Respectfully, Acting Governor.
