CROSS-ZONE PRESENTMENT OF CASH LETTERS

TO ALL BANKS
AND FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS IN THE
ELEVENTH FEDERAL RESERVE DISTRICT:
The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System has authorized
Federal Reserve Banks to provide cross-zone presentment of cash letters to all
payor financial institutions effective immediately.
This revised policy allows Reserve Banks to arrange transportation (at
the expense of the payor financial institution or its agent) for cross-zone
presentment, provided delivery can be accomplished on the same banking day that
the items would have been presented within the territory of the local Reserve
office. Return item deadlines and cash le tter charges will be calculated from the
time of presentment of these items to the financial institution's agent.
Reserve Bank personnel are available to provide assistance with either
arranging or negotiating the necessary courier arrangements on behalf of the
payor institutions.
Should you desire additional details concerning the policy or desire to
take advantage of the program, please contact Jess Insall at this Office, Ext.
6399 or Lillian Childress at the El Paso Branch, (915) 544-4730, John Bullock at
the Houston Branch, (713) 659-4433, or Henry Juenke at the San Antonio Branch,
(512) 224-2141.
Sincerely yours,
Robert H. Boykin
First Vice President
