FEDERAL. R E SE R V E BANK OF DALLAS FISCAL. A G E N T O F TH E UNITED ST AT E S Dallas, Texas, July 26,1944 To the Member and Nonmember Banks in the Eleventh Federal Reserve District: It has been brought to the attention of the Treasury Department that remittances to members of the armed forces of the United States are being effected by banks in the United States under General License No. 32A. We have been requested to inform banks in this district that it is de sired that General License No. 32A not be used to effect remittances to members of the armed forces of the United States. Such remittances may be effected through the use of United States postal money orders pursuant to the provisions of General License No. 88. We have been informed also that many of the payment orders hereto fore issued under General License No. 32A to the Bank of Naples and the Bank of Sicily covering remittances of this nature will not be executed, and that the Italian banks are expected to instruct the transmitting banks in the United States to refund the amounts of any such incomplete remittances. Yours very truly, R. R. GILBERT President This publication was digitized and made available by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas' Historical Library (FedHistory@dal.frb.org)
