The Federal Reserve Board today named e i g h t new members t o i t s Consumer
Advisory Council t o r e p l a c e members whose terms ar e e x p i r i n g , and d e s ig n a te d a
new Chairman and Vice Chairman of t h e Council.
The Council a d v is e s th e Board in t h e f i e l d of consumer f i n a n c i a l pr o­
t e c t i o n laws and o t h e r c o n su m e r- re la t e d m a t t e r s .

I t s 30 members come from a l l

p a r t s of th e country and i n c lu d e a broad r e p r e s e n t a t i o n of consumer and f i n a n c i a l
industry i n t e r e s t s .

The Council meets s ev e ra l times a y e a r in s e s s i o n s open to

the public.
Mr. Willard P. Ogburn was named Chairman t o succeed Ms. Susan Pierson
DeWitt, whose term w il l e x p i r e a t y e a r end.

Mr. Ogburn i s Deputy D i r e c t o r of the

National Consumer Law Center of Boston, M a s sa c h u se tts .

His term runs through

December 1984.
Mr. Timothy D. Marrinan was named Vice Chairman t o succeed Mr. William
J . O'Connor, J r . , whose term e x p ir e s a t y e a r end.
