CCAC Public Meeting Minutes
November 15, 2005
Held via teleconference
A public meeting of the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee was held via
teleconference on November 15, 2005. Attending the meeting were Mitch Sanders
(Chair), Ute Wartenberg (Secretary), John Alexander, Leon Billings, Bill Fivaz, Rita
Laws, Donald Scarinci, Ken Thomasma, and Joe Winter. The chair called the meeting to
order at 1:00 P.M.
It was announced that the Secretary of the Treasury had appointed two new
members to the CCAC: John Alexander was appointed based on his special
qualifications in American history, and Joe Winter was appointed based on his special
qualifications in medallic arts or sculpture. It was also announced that the Secretary of
the Treasury had appointed Mitch Sanders as Chair of the CCAC.
The minutes of the September 27, 2005 meeting were unanimously approved.
There followed a brief discussion of the CCAC’s website, and procedures for
incorporating updated information into the site. It was also agreed that the chair would
appoint an executive committee before the CCAC’s January 2006 meeting.
An amended draft of the Annual Report was unanimously approved, and the
Annual Report subcommittee (Bill Fivaz, Rita Laws, and Mitch Sanders) was empowered
to finalize the report’s language before submission.
Brendan Adams of the United States Mint then updated the committee on
proposals related to coins and medals that have been introduced in Congress.
There was a brief discussion of the CCAC’s next meeting, to be held in January
2006. There being no additional business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:05 P.M.
