COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY

Commercial and industrial loans increased in all districts and a net of
$1,477 million at weekly reporting large commercial banks during the week ended June 21.
The principal net increases were $291 million in loans to manufacturers of
machinery, $179 million to manufacturers of food, liquor, and tobacco products, $155
million to "other" public utilities, $l4o million to retail trade, and $100 million
to communication.
