COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL LOANS OUTSTANDING BY INDUSTRY

Commercial arid i n d u s t r i a l loans increased a n e t of $11 m i l l i o n a t weekly
reporting large commercial banks during the week ended February 22.
The p r i n c i p a l net increases were $50 million i n loans t o manufacturers of
machinery, $26 m i l l i o n t o r e t a i l t r a d e , and $24 million t o manufacturers of t e x t i l e s ,
apparel, and l e a t h e r products.
The l a r g e r o f f s e t t i n g net decreases were $46 million i n loans t o "other"
public u t i l i t i e s , $22 m i l l i o n i n bankers' acceptances, and $20 m i l l i o n t o commodity
dealers.
