Mr, Lon H. Lewis, Secretary, Chamber of Commerce, Indianapolis, Ind. Dear Sir:Replying to your letter of the t hirtieth will say that the business done through the banks of this city indicate that Indianapolis would be t he place preferred for the federal reserve bank, while personally they would have no preference just so that the money would be forthcoming when they wanted it--- it would be a question among the bankers as to the locat ion of this reserve fund. Indianapolis does 66$ of t he Rushville banking business, Cincinnati 25$, Chicago 9$, while Louisville and Saint Louis really does none at all with Rushville. Indianapolis does the bulk of the whole sale business in Rushville with the exception, of special lines which, of course, must be purchased at their respective cities----but- staple articles are mostly purchased in your city and nat urally Reproduced from the Unclassified I Declassified Holdings of the National Archives E S T A B L IS H E D 1840 IN C O R P O R A T E D 1910 A City Print Shop in a Country T o w n T H E *5* REPUBLICAN / G ood W o r k a t L o w \ \ O p e ra tin g E xpenses / COMPANY It is Rush County's Official Newspaper ( A n Advertising M e d iu m \ \ m th e “ Q &• Q ” C la s s / P U B L IS H E R S O F W e Specialize on High-Class Printing THE DAILY REPUBLICAN A PAID-IN'ADVANCE CIRCULATION Members of T h e United Newspapers RUSHVILLE, INDIANA --------------------------------- i we would lock to Indianapolis as "our" main bus iness center where would would expect to do any and all kinds of business----and would look there for any loans as in this case of federal reserve banks.
