DIRECTOR OF ORGANIZATION Mr. Benjamin Strong, Federal Reserve Bank, New Icrk City. My Dear Mr. Strong: As a member of the National Budget Committee, I know that you are interested in backing up President Harding in a program of real economy for our government. The income and excess profits tax may be shifted from one class to another, but the burden eventually falls on the people. If the budget bill is passed by Congress and all its provi, ions carried cut, there will be a great saving to the government; then must follow a real reorganization of the various bureaus These things will nct be done, however, unless and departments. there is evidence of a genuine public demand. 1. I am therefore appealing to you to give just one hour of your time to speak to two people whom you know would be interested in the work we are doing. I enclose two booklets describing this work, on the back page of which you will find a membership application blank. Our Chairman, Mr. John T. Pratt, will communicate with you a little later regarding our program of work for the coming year and our proposed Mid -jest Conference, to be held June 7th and 8th. Sincerely your CHAIRMAN, FINANCE COMMITT1]i. On account of the number of these letters to our P. S. members, it has become necessary to multigraph this form. TELEPHONE.
