Dear Sir: The F~deral Reserve BoarQ desires to obtain complete information with refarence to the arran~ement entered into by the various Federal Reserve Banks for legal services, and the salaries, fees, and other compensation paid for such services. To this end, you are requested to furnish the Board with a complete explanJtion of the arrangements entered into by your bank for ::mch services, and especially as to the following details: {1) What counsel, as_,istant counsel, office counsel or law clerks are employed or retained by the bank? (2) What services are performed by each of t.hem? (3) Do they devote all of their time to the service of the bank, or are they engaged also in general practice? (4) Vfuat salaries, fees or retainers are paiu to each of them? ( 5) If any of such payments are not fixed, what is tha basis of compensation? (6) Does the re6Ular compen::>ation paid them cover all services which they may be called upon to ren~er, or are they paid additional fees for extraordinary services such as the trial of important cases?
