Dear S i r : Since several of the Federal Reserve Banks have d i s continued the p l a n of a d j u s t i n g s a l a r i e s of o f f i c e r s and employees a s of January 1 and July 1 of each year, the Board w i l l not p r e s c r i b e a uniform method f o r submitting recommendations a s of January 1, 1921, but d e s i r e s t h a t those banks which s t i l l continue to a d j u s t s a l a r i e s semi-annually follow the form a s outlined in t h e Board's l e t t e r of December 2, 1$19, X-1739* I t i s the Board's d e s i r e , however, t h a t a l l Federal Reserve Banks submit a statement a s of January 1, 1921, g i v i n g the following i n f o r m a t i o n : Department Date of Empl oyjient Name Position Present Annual Salary This l i s t should show a l l employees of each department, i n c l u d i n g the War Savings Organization and the Fiscal Agency Department, and employees not assigned to any p a r t i c u l a r department. In those cases where s a l a r i e s a r e reimbursable, e i t h e r i n whole or i n p a r t , by the Treasury Department, i t i s requested t h a t note be made t o t h i s e f f e c t . Also, p l e a s e show on a separate sheet a r e c a p i t u l a t i o n by departments, giving the following information: Department Number of • Employees Total Annual Salary This r e c a p i t u l a t i o n should be footed and show grand t o t a l s . 1183 -2- X-20S9 In a d d i t i o n t o t h e foregoing information t h e Board d e s i r e s t h a t you submit an a d d i t i o n a l memorandum covering the d u t i e s assigned t o each o f f i c e r of the Bank and t h e departments which a r e operated under h i s general supervision or immediate d i r e c t i o n ; a l s o a d e s c r i p t i o n of the d u t i e s of employees r e c e i v i n g s a l a r i e s of $3,000 or more p e r annum, who a r e engaged i n special work f o r the Bank but who a r e not assigned t o any p a r t i c u l a r department, s t a t i n g the r a t e of compensation, and whether or not the employee devotes h i s e n t i r e time t o t h e work of the Reserve Bank, The Board .desires f u r t h e r t h a t the memorandum include a brief d e s c r i p t i o n covering the scope of the work of each department, i t s s u b d i v i s i o n s , the name of the o f f i c e r or employee i n charge of each department or subdivision, t h e names of h i s p r i n c i p a l a s s i s t a n t s , and the name of t h e o f f i c e r of t h e Bank who has general s u p e r v i s i o n of t h e o p e r a t i o n of t h e department.
