307 F E D E R A L RESERVE BOARD WASHINGTON X-3070 March 16, 1921. SUBJECT: Governors 1 Conference and. Discussion of General Credit Conditions. Dear Sir; The Board has c a l l e d a conference of the Governors of the Federal Reserve Banks beginning April 12th and extending, perhaps, thawugh tiae 15th. A considerable p a r t of t h i s conference w i l l be devoted to discussion of matters p e r t a i n i n g to the operation of the Federal Reserve Banks, including f i s c a l agency functions, but on Thursday, April 14th, the Board wishes to have a discussion of general c r e d i t conditions and the best methods of providing f o r the needs of business and industry. Last year, as you may remember, there was a conference h e l d here on May 18th a t which the Class "A", or banker, d i r e c t o r s were present. This year t h e Board deems i t advisable t h a t each bank be represented a t the discussion on April 14th by one of i t s non-banker d i r e c t o r s , a c t i v e ly i d e n t i f i e d with business i n order t h a t there may be brought out the views of those who are users of c r e d i t . I t i s deemed best t o l i m i t the i n v i t a t i o n s t o one d i r e c t o r from each bank, and i n order t h a t there may be present representatives of various l i n e s of business and industry the Board wishes the i n v i t a t i o n t o your bank to be extended i n i t s behalf to Mr, Payment by your bank of the a c t u a l expenses incurred by your representative i n attending the conference w i l l be approved, by the Board.
