I i n c l o s e a copy of a memorandum, prepared under
my d i r e c t i o n at the request of Representative S t e a g a l l ,
Chairman of the House Committee on Banking and Currency,
and submitted to him on Monday, r e l a t i n g to the extens i o n of S e c t i o n s 2 and 3 of the Glass—Steagall Act of
February 27, 1932.
On Monday the Committee held a hearing on the
b i l l introduced by Representative S t e a g a l l (H. R. 1 4 , 2 5 2 ) ,
extending f o r one year the s e c t i o n s r e f e r r e d t o , but the
memorandum was not incorporated i n the record of the
h e a r i n g , and I am sending you the i n c l o s e d copy merely
f o r your information,
