The December 31 figures as given in the statement are "based on the preliminary data furnished "by the Federal reserve agents in r e sponse to the Board's l e t t e r St, 6838 of December 18. The figures shown in the enclosed statement will be published in the forthcoming February issue of the Federal Reserve Bulletin, but in the meantime they are given to you for your confidential use.
