FEDERAL RESERVE BOARD
WASHINGTON
ADDRESS OFFICIAL CORRESPONDENCE TO
THE FEDERAL RESERVE BOARD

X-6005
March 27, 1928.

SUBJECT:

Monthly Report of Leased Wire Ooerations.

Dear Sir:
Referring to the telegraphic information now being
furnished the Board in connection with the monthly main line
leased wire operations, (see BoarQ 1 s letter X-3547 of October
30, 1922) i t is requested that each Federal reserve bank telegraph the following information to the Board during the first
week of each rt!Onth, commencing with the business for the month
of April! 19281 (1) Amount of salaries paid main line operators during the ~receding month; (2) Amount paid said operators for overtime; (3) Total number of words contained iri all
messages sent to Washington on Treasury Department business;
(4) Total number of words contained in all messages sent over
the main line leased wires chargeable to your bank and branches.
The segregation of the Treasury Department incoming
Washington business from the total number of words sent over
the main line leased wires by head office and branches is to
effect a saving in the time now being consumed in counting
these messages. This segregation will also expedite settlement of the monthly bills rendered the Treasury Department
covering telegraphic service afforded the several bureaus of
that Department.
Very truly yours,

J. C. Noell,
Assistant Secretary.
