T H E FEDERAL RESERVE BOARD

SUBJECT: Federal Reserve Bank Salaries.
Dear S i r :

While the Board has devoted some time to a study of
the personnel c l a s s i f i c a t i o n plans called f o r in i t s l e t t e r
X-6293 of April IS, 1929, the l a s t one of which was received
yesterday, i t does not expect to be able to formally pass
upon a l l of them before the early part of next year. I t will
be appreciated, therefore, if you will submit f o r the Board's
approval as early in December as practicable a l i s t of employees
of your bank, together with the s a l a r i e s paid to them as of
December 1, and the s a l a r i e s provided by your board of d i r e c t o r s
to be paid beginning with January 1, 1930, in the same form as
was followed l a s t year. In submitting the l i s t of employees
and recommendations f o r salaries, please show opposite the nqma
of each employee the symbol l e t t e r or number provided f o r
employees of h i s or her grade in the c l a s s i f i c a t i o n plan, and
c a l l p a r t i c u l a r a t t e n t i o n to any salary recommendation which
does not-conform to the c l a s s i f i c a t i o n plan already forwarded
to the Board.
In accordance with the usual practice, please submit
f o r the Board's approval as early in January as practicable
the s a l a r i e s to be paid to o f f i c e r s of your bank during 1930,
which are approved by the board of d i r e c t o r s a t i t s f i r s t
meeting in January. These s a l a r i e s should be submitted in
accordance with the form attached to the Board's l e t t e r of
November 20, 1928, a copy of which i s attached hereto. As
was the case l a s t year a detailed budget f o r your head o f f i c e
and f o r each branch should be forwarded to the Board as early
a f t e r January 1, 1930 as practicable.
