Dear Sir:
Recently the head of the Division of Fro?.~n Funds
Control of one of the Federal Reserve Banl~s received a request
from a local censor for information which the hea.d of the division did not feel he could give out without the consent of the
Treastllj~ Department.
The matter was taken up with the Treas,...
u.ry and under date of Ja.'1uary 27, 1942, the TreaSUI"'J sent to
the Frozen Funds Control division of each Federal Reserve Bank
circular No. 11;3 authorizing the division to make information
in its files and records available to the offices of Military
and Naval Intelligence, Arrow and Navy Censorship, and agents
of the Department of Justice.
The Board has not received ar~ rsquests from the
Office of Censorship that conf:Ldential information be made
available to censors from other departments of the Fode:ra.l
Reserve Banks. However, should you receive requests for such
information, it will be appreciated if you will give the censor tho fullest cooperation practicable in the circumstances,
and if the nu.'ilbcr of such calls assumes any su1Jstantial volume
it is suggested that you advise the Board from time to time as
to the nmnber and general nature of the requests. Should you
haye any question at any time a,s to the information that should
be furnished to the censor in response to his requests, the
Board will 0e pleased to have you take the matter up with it.
