Form No. 1^1 Office Correspondence TQ Chairman Eccles FEDERAL RESERVE BOARD Subject: eal1 to From I should appreciate it very much if you would call Senator Wagner and tell him that, on your return here today, you were glad to learn from me that his housing bill had been reported to the Senate last week. You might also say that I thought that the bill was considerably strengthened in several particulars and that I hoped there would be no difficulty in obtaining its passage at this session of Congress. The bill as reported follows in general the pattern of the bill as originally introduced. It does not, however, touch either the coordination proposal or the privately-financed program provided for in the bill that I had drafted. A fairly complete outline of the amended bill is given in the memorandum to Dan Bell, of which I sent a copy to you last week.
