March 2k, 19U? Mr. Robert C. Hill, Clerk, Committee on Banking and Currency, United States Senate, Washington 25, D. C. Dear Mr. Hill: Chairman Eccles asked me to send you the accompanying copies of his memorandum on the bill on direct purchases which the Committee favorably reported this morning. He read only the first two or three paragraphs of the statement, but would like to have all of it included, if possible, in the record. It occurred to me that you might want to distribute copies to the members of the Committee and that is why I am enclosing a supply for that purpose. Sincerely yours, Elliott Thurston, Assistant to the Chairman. Enclosures 35 ET:b
