Eccles, Board of Governors, Federal Reserve System, Washington 25, C# Dear Mr* Eccles: I have received your letter of March 29, 1948, enclosing certain material from the files of the Board, which were sent to me in response to my letter of March 24* I note that you have construed my letter of March 24 as requesting information only concerning matters of current concern with regard to Transamerica Corp* or any of its affiliated institutions* However, what I wish to obtain to bring before the committee is any other relevant material from the files of the Board from January 1, 1942 to date, bearing upon questions or problems between the Board of Governors or any other agency of the Government, and Transamerica Corp. or any of i t s affiliated institutions—this to include every bit of data that is in your files concerning these various elements or groups. The committee, as you know, is at the present time considering matters of farreaching importance to the country in connection with the confirmation of Mr. Thomas McCabe as Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board.
