LOS ANGELES 7

Mr. M. S. Eccles
Board of Governors
Federal Reserve System
Wa shington, D . C .
Dear Mr. Eccles:
More than two years ago, January 11, 1949, to
be exact, you mentioned in a letter to me that
sometime in the future you would be willing to
speak off the record to the members of The
Southern California Economic Association if it
could be arranged at a time convenient to you.
Since meeting with you in Washington in Septem
ber, when I was one of the members of the seminar
group from the Twelfth Federal Reserve District,
I am even more anxious to have you speak to our
group. If you have time during your trip West
in April, I hope you will consent to address
our group on Friday, being April 6.
We are a relatively small group which meets in
formally from time to time. Unfortunately we
are unable to offer you anything in the way of
an honorarium.
Even though you are unable to meet with our group
I look forward to seeing you during your visit
to Los Angeles.
Very truly yours,

Kenneth L. Trefftzs, Head
Department of Finance

Mr. Kenneth L. Trifftzs,
Head of the Department of Finance,
University of Southern California,
Los Angeles 7, California.
Dear Mr. Trifftzs:
Your letter of March 15th has been forwarded to me from
Washington. I note what you have to say about -your desire to
have me address the members of the Southern California Economic
Association on Friday, April 6th. As you possibly know, I am
planning to address Group Five of the California Bankers Associa
tion on the afternoon of April 7th at the Biltmore Hotel. I find
that it will be convenient for me to meet with your group Friday
evening, April 6th, as according to my present plans I will arrive
by plane from Seattle early that afternoon and will be staying at
the Biltmore Hotel.
I wish you would let me know at your earliest convenience
if Friday evening would be a satisfactory time and if so, where and
at what time would the meeting be held. You can reach me up until
April 2nd at the Ben Lomand Hotel, Ogden, Utah.

Yours very truly,

M. S. Eccles.
