Hon* Elbert Thomas*
Unitod States Senator*
Washington* D. C*
Dear Senator:
I arrived here on election day* after
spending about a month in Utah, and therefore was fully
aware of the fonrddable organised opposition to your reelection, In view of this, the substantial margin by
which you won is a fine compliment to you, and I want to
extend to you try hearty congratulations*
Utah and the entire Y*est are fortunate in
being represented again by a man of your vision and ability* who has acquired such great influence in the Senate*
I hope I may have the opportunity sometime
soon, at your convenience* of getting you and Bob Hinckley
together for lunch with me here at the Federal Reserve
building*
With best personal regards*
Sincerely yours*

U* Sm Eccles,
Chairman*

pear Karriner;
I appreciated very much your thoughtful letter of
November 13, extending congratulations on the recent
election.

I regret not having answered it sooner, but*

the after-election rush has, it seems, put a halter on
my correspondence.

Your kind words are acknowledged

with many thanks, and the luncheon invitation sounds
fine •
May I make this note not only one of thanks
but also one which sends seasonte greetings to you and
yours.

I'ost sincerely,

EDT/F
