REMARKS:
Referred to you in Mr. Eecles1
absence.
I do not think that this requires
anything more than an acknowledgment
and a statement that M. S. E. is
out of town, but you know he will
appreciate having General Wood give
him his ideas,as suggested.

Mr* Marriner S. Eccles,
Chairwm, Board of Governors,
Federal Reserve System,
Washington, D, C*
My dear Mr* Ecclest
I have just recently returned
from a thirty-day vacation in northern Canada.
Yesterday, there was handed to
me by Mr, Schaller the letter fro* Mr« Chester
Morrill under date of July 30th with the memoranda
relative to the tax bill. I distributed these at
the meeting of the Board of Directors today, and
asked the various members for cowents*
On the whole, I feel that the
tax bill is a good one and does not deserve the
abuse that has been heaped on It in so many quarters« However, it can be improved, and if you
care to have me do so, t can give you my Ideas as
to sone desirable amendments*
