OFFICE OF WAR MOBILIZATION
WASHINGTON,

D.C.

October 11, 1943
James F. Byrnes
Director

Dear Mr. Eccles:
There is considerable thought and attention,
both within and without the Government being given to the
problems connected with the termination of war contracts
and disposition of war stocks and plants. These problems
affect many different departments and agencies of the
Government.
I think it important that we pool our thinking
and planning with reference to these problems so that we may
work out unified and consistent programs which can be
carried out when the time for action arrives.
I am
interested in
at 2:30 P. M.
that you will

therefore asking the heads of various agencies
these problems to meet with me in my office
Thursday, October 14, 1943• I hope very much
be able to attend.
Yourssincereiy,

Honorable Marriner 3. Kccles
Chairman, Federal Reserve Board
Washington, D. C.
