Eccles: h part of the first chapter of the Brookings Institution report to the Senate Select Committee on Investigation of the Executive Agencies of the Government is enclosed. Part three of this chapter, embracing recommendations relative to agencies termed as "supervisory" in this the financial field, as covered by the report, is not yet available, but will be sent to you immediately upon its receipt. By action of the committee in its meeting of January 14, hearings will be held on the entire first chapter during the week beginning January 25. The specific date has not yet been set, but we w i l l be pleased to notify you upon indication t h a t you or your representatives would like to appear for a discussion of the recommendations at the beginning. We shall have to confine appearances before the committee to persons who have indicated before January 22 a desire to testify. The committee would like to emphasize the fact that this report is from the Brookings Institution to the committee for its consideration, and is not to be regarded as the sense of the committee.
