Sears,Roebuck and Co. J/ie World's Largest Store 360 West 31®l Street N e w York January 29, 1937. PERSONAL Mr. Mariner Eccles, Governor, Federal Reserve Bank, Washington, D.C. My dear Mr. Eccles: I hope you did not think I was walking out on the luncheon yesterday from lack of interest. Unfortunately, Marvin Mclntyre had made an appointment with the President for himself and two or three of the others at 2:30, and, as you know, that is an appointment you have to keep. I thought you made a splendid talk before the business men of the Council and I think that each and all of them appreciated it, for they were all intelligent men who thoroughly understood the import of what you were saying. The address was "full of meat". I was the more deeply impressed because it so exactly reflected my own views. Most sincerely yours, R. E7 Wo ood? February 1, 1957. General R. E.
