modern housing at the lowest
practicable rents.
A Board, consisting of professional men,
expert in various fields, designed it to
achieve wholesomeness, convenience, beauty
and recreational safety. There is nothing
like it anywhere else in the world. Across
its 129 acres extend two broad landscaped
parkways which meet at a central park and
divide the community into four sections containing thousands of trees and masses of
flowering shrubbery.
In the sunlight and spaciousness of these
green areas stand fifty-one elevator apartment buildings of efficient and harmonious
design, varying in height from six to twelve
stories.

Five ramp garages, a central
heating plant of finest type,
splendid theatre facilities and
a unique and colorful grouping
of stores express strikingly the
completeness provided for congenial every-day living.
Only 3^/2 acres are covered
by buildings. The large area remaining is
open space devoted to lawns, play areas,
paths and parkways. PARKCHESTER is
a child's haven.
In all there are 12,200 apartments, two
to five rooms in size. A wealth of understanding has been woven into the comfort
of their ample living rooms, the perfection
of kitchens, the bright pattern of the bathrooms. Cross-ventilation, steel casement windows, metal cabinets, large foyers, hardwood
floors, generous closet space, concealed radiation, an advanced radio antenna system
— such are some of the PARKCHESTER
assets that make for pleasurable living.

All PARKCHESTER rentals include gas and electricity. They are:
2 rooms, $32 to $34 monthly
3 rooms, $29 t o $53 monthly
Interesting variety also is found in the design
of the three room apartments.

4 rooms, $52 to $64 monthly
5 rooms, $63 to #71 monthly

Shopping facilities are complete. Highest-type stores,
including restaurants, occupy the commercial areas.
Macy's only New York branch is in this community.
PARKCHESTER'S landscaped areas provide quiet paths
that are pleasantly suggestive of suburban residence.

Children are safe at PARKCHESTER. Sixty-six of the 129 acres are lawns and
play sections far removed from traffic.

The wholesomeness of
PARKCHESTER is a deep

satisfaction to parents
seeking proper environment for their children.

Ample opportunity for
outdoor recreation is
provided for adults as
well as for children.

Older children find full opportunity for recreation
with members of the PARKCHESTER staff cooperating.
This is one of the Play Areas in the South Section.

Sunlight and openness are basic in the PARKCHESTER plan. Apartment windows command beautiful views over lawns. This is the Park Oval of the East Section.
