Dear Mr. Eccles:
Robert L. Mehornay, of this city, is
associated with the Defense Commission as Assistant
to Don kelson ana both of them are working very closely
with Governor Draper. You have doubtless met Mr.
Mehornay ana will remember him as being at our meeting
on Tuesday of last week with Mr. Nelson.
He has been endeavoring to get an
apartment at the Shoreham Hotel, but up to date has
been unable to ao so. Mrs. Mehornay is with him and
they are living in somewhat cramped quarters at the
Wardman Park Hotel. I understand you live at the
Shoreham and you can probably be of assistance in
getting him some satisfactory quarters there. Both
Mr. and Mrs. Mehornay are fine people and trie sort of
persons that any hotel should be 6la(i to nave as guests.
I will appreciate any help you can give them in getting
located at the Shoreham.
Sincerely yours,

-

Mr. Robert B» Caldwell,
KcCune, Oaldwell & Downing,
2000 Fidelity Building,
Kansas City, Missouri,
Dear Mr. Caldwell:
it were possible for me, as you request
in your letter of December 13, to be of assistance to Mr.
and Mrs. Mehornay in getting an apartment at the Shoreham
Hotel* However, there is not a thiag I can do and in
view of the circumstances, as I understand them, 1 am not
at all surprised that they have been unable to get an
apartment there.
I have lived at the ohoreham for over five years
and I have been attempting, without success, for several
months to get a larger apartment than the one I now have.
Mr, Moore, the manager of the hotel, has done everything
he can to get me relocated, but as the hotel is completely
occupied with no prospect of Bay vacancies, he has been
unable to do anything for me. He advised me that they
have a long waiting list, among vfeleh is oecretary of the
Navy Knox, who has hem trying to get an apartment at the
ever since coming to Waahlmgton last suiamer.

sincerely yours,

H* S# Iccles,
