and q u i t e c o r r e c t i n my o p i n i o n .
The press quoted you as s a y i n g , among o t h e r t h i n g s ,
t h a t "we c a n * t have f u l l employment and loir, p r i c e s unless t h e government r e g u l a t e s e v e r y t h i n g . "
Under the impact of a f r e e economy w i t h o u t r e g u l a t i o n
s u b j e c t t o the laws o f s u p p l y &nd demand, we have the s i t u a t i o n as r e f l e c t e d i n your statement* I f t h e government " r e g u l a t e s e v e r y t h i n g "
we have p r i c e c o n t r o l which leads t o more and more c o n t r o l s and we
must meet the charge o f " D i c t a t o r s h i p 1 1 ?foich, i n my o p i n i o n , might cane
t o pass.
Ten years ago I recommended t h a t the s u b j e c t of
Economics be made a r e q u i r e d study i n a l l h i g h schools and u n i v e r s i t i e s
which i s t h e law of "How a Man Makes h i s l i v i n g " . Less than 10fo o f
the p o p u l a t i o n understands t h i s s u b j e c t . I f 90$ d i d understand elementary
economics, they would refrain f r o m k i c k i n g up p r i c e s because of the laws
of cause and e f f e c t .
People would become aware of t h e i r r e s p o n s i b i l i t y t o wards t h e i r workers, t h e i r customers and the p u b l i c i n g e n e r a l .
