Mr. A. P. Gianaxiii
The Breaker#
Pal* Bejch, Florida
Bear Mr. Gianainis
1 have yours of April 7th and an very glad to note that
you will cose to Washington following the A.B.A. Executive Council
neetin^ at Hot Springs. I have noted that this aeeting will be
held froa April 18th to 21st so that I shall expect to see yon
here Ground the 22nd or 23rd. Without any commitment mi your part,
please confirm this date so thst 1 can have ay calendar free for
your convenience as to our luncheon.
Mr. Collins was in yesterday noraiag to discuss the ques
tion of a permit for the Bank of Aneriea’s special stockholders*
neeting. After discussing the problea I took hia in to see Mr.
McKee sad we had a very satisfactory visit. Mr. *c£ee assured Mr.
Collins in no uncertain terns that a perait of one kind nr the
other (general or United} will be available in tiae for the said
stockholders* meeting.
While I have been soaewhut surprised to learn of year
plans for divesting Transeaerica and the interaediate holdtog com
panies of the coaircl of all bank stocks owned, I can, of coarse,
perceive naaerons «, -vantages in so doing. At the sane tiae I doa't
doubt that there are soae disadvantages. I trust that we will find
tiae to go into this as it is no doubt a vary interesting story and
I an sure mj chief, if he is free oa the day yen cose here, would
be glad to hear all about it*
With kiadest regards, I aa
Tours siacarely,
