Hon. Marriner S. Secies, Governor
Federal Reserve Board
lashingtôn, D. C.
Dear Governor Eccles;
Ihile your ideas and ours do not
coincide on the branch bank question, we find
ourselves in agreement- with many of your banking
views.
Our Association realizes, of course, that
the recent fight over the Second Vice-Presidency
of the American Bankers Association is not a
conflict between the independent bankers and the
branch bankers, but more an Anti-Administrâtion
move.
Our Association does not subscribe to the
attitude of the American Bankers Association as
expressed at their Convention. By far, the majority
of our members are not members of that Association,
they feel that to quite an extent that Association
is an organization directed by the larger bankers.
The position Mr. Adams took was, of course, illogical
and we compliment you on the able way you took him
to task in your address.
