ARDREY VICE PRESIDENT 16 WALL {STREET, N ew Y o rk October 25, 1958 Honorable Marriner S. Eccles C/o Federal Keserve Board Washington, D. A. Dear Marriners Since my conversation with you the other day about the A.I.B. dinner on December 1, I have learned that this is not just a meeting of the bank clerks who are students of New York Chapter of the A.I.B., nor is it one of the series of meetings of the Bankers Forum of New York Chapter, but is the twenty-fifth annual dinner of the Bankers Forum of New York Chapter. Entirely apart from who is at the speakers' table, the audience is likely to be composed mostly of people who have gone a little bit further int» the profession than those who are still students. I don’t know that you will carefully, but I am enclosing a copy annual dinner, and as I look it over quite a smattering of bank officers, want to take the time to study it of the seating list of last year's 1 notice the names of a few brass hats, and a lot of names that I don't recognize I don't doubt that you have most of this information already, but because of the turn our conversation took I thought I would pass this on to you anyway. Under the circumstances I am inclined to feel that your ideas about the kind of speech you might make is a lot better than the suggestion I gave you, although I still feel that if you can throw in something along the lines of my suggestion at some point in your talk it would be a pat on the back for some fellows who are trying to do a job, and even might do some good with some of the unreconstructed rebels. Sincerely yours, P. S. - Just between you and me, the fact that your name appears on the list will probably bring out a higher percentage of senior New York bank officers than has been in attendance at this annual dinner in the past. Whether this should have this result or not I will not take up your time to debate in this letter!
